The best Trademark Watching Cat in the world now supports trademark monitoring from the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO).

With this integration, users can now automatically track registered trademarks and new trademark applications and updates published weekly by CIPO , alongside data from USPTO, EUIPO, and SwissReg. This means broader coverage, faster alerts, and a stronger ability to spot potential conflicts across multiple jurisdictions.
CIPO currently has around 850,000 records
By adding CIPO, BrandCat helps users:
- Monitor Canadian applications as soon as they appear in the official database.
- Catch potential conflicts earlier across North America.
- View filing details, classes, owners, and status changes in one place.
What's covered?
BrandCat monitors textual data, we still do not support tracking your logos (that will come in the next few months), and as you can see from the screenshot below:

You'll be able to see:
- Application number
- Registration number (if the trademark registration is accepted)
- Status
- Filing Date
- Owners
- Classification, i.e. category of goods/services it covers
- Representatives (in US terms it would be the equivalent of Correspondents), i.e. the lawyer that submitted the paperwork
- Events (Filed, Created, Approved/Rejected etc.)
Weekly updates
The CIPO database is refreshed weekly, matching the office's own publication schedule.
Users can now see CIPO results directly in their search and monitoring views - no extra setup required.
🌎 Growing international coverage
With the addition of Canada, BrandCat now covers:
- United States (USPTO), daily updates (about 2 million records)
- European Union (EUIPO), daily updates (about 1.6 million records)
- Switzerland (SwissReg / IGE), daily updates (about 550 thousand records)
- Canada (CIPO), weekly updates (850 thousand records)
I ain't no mathematician, but that's roughly 4.8 million registered trademarks in total.
And more are coming, Australia and WIPO Daily Filings are already on the roadmap.
🚀 Try it out
The new Canadian data source is available automatically to all BrandCat users starting from today. BrandCat runs its own scheduled searches in the background, so any existing keyword or domain monitors will now include results from CIPO automatically, no extra setup needed.
