BrandCat Adds Indian Patent Office (CGPDTM) Trademark Monitoring

BrandCat now supports trademark monitoring from the Indian Patent Office (CGPDTM). 🇮🇳

We've added another major jurisdiction to BrandCat’s growing trademark monitoring system.

Trademark data from the Controller General of Patents, Designs & Trade Marks (CGPDTM) in India is now monitored inside the same unified interface already used across the rest of BrandCat’s supported offices.

India is one of the world’s largest trademark jurisdictions by filing volume, and for many brands it is too important to leave unchecked.

CGPDTM data is currently monitored weekly and matched against your protected keywords inside BrandCat.

Why India Matters

India is not just a large market by population. It is also one of the most active trademark jurisdictions in the world.

For brand owners, trademark lawyers, and brand protection teams, India matters because it can reveal:

  • early local filings before a brand expands further
  • copycat registrations in a high-growth market
  • localized brand activity around technology, consumer products, SaaS, education, and retail
  • defensive filings across multiple Nice classes
  • competitor expansion into one of the world’s most commercially important jurisdictions

Adding India meaningfully expands BrandCat’s visibility across Asia and pushes our trademark monitoring coverage to 16 jurisdictions and systems.

And, frankly, after adding so many new offices lately, our old trademark feature page had started turning into an infodump. India was the point where we finally split that section into dedicated office pages and a cleaner overview page instead of trying to shove everything into one giant wall of text.

What the India Integration Includes

The CGPDTM integration provides the same structured monitoring workflow BrandCat already uses across other jurisdictions.

That includes:

  • monitoring of trademark applications and registrations
  • weekly checks for new matching records
  • application and registration numbers
  • filing, registration, and expiry dates
  • owner and correspondent information
  • Nice class classifications
  • unified trademark detail view inside BrandCat

The goal is not just to collect records, but to present them in a format that is fast to review when you are monitoring multiple jurisdictions at once.

Example: Indian Trademark Results in BrandCat

BrandCat trademark monitoring results from the Indian Patent Office (CGPDTM)

In the example above, BrandCat shows Indian trademark matches in the same normalized results layout used across other supported offices, including:

  • trademark name
  • owner and applicant summary
  • Nice classes
  • serial and registration numbers
  • filing dates
  • simplified status display

That means Indian records can now be reviewed alongside jurisdictions such as USPTO, CNIPA, EUIPO, JPO, KIPO, UKIPO, Brazil, Mexico, Hong Kong, and others without having to mentally re-parse each office’s own format.

Unified Detail View for India

Each Indian match opens into the same structured detail format used across BrandCat’s other trademark integrations.

That includes:

  • core trademark identifiers
  • owner and correspondent information
  • filing, registration, and expiry dates
  • Nice class descriptions
  • country and registry metadata

This matters because the real friction in trademark monitoring is rarely “finding the record.”
It is reviewing many records from many offices quickly enough to decide what deserves attention.

India is now part of that same workflow.

BrandCat’s Growing Trademark Coverage

With India added, BrandCat now monitors trademark activity across 16 jurisdictions and systems, including:

  • 🇺🇸 USPTO - United States
  • 🇨🇳 CNIPA - China
  • 🇪🇺 EUIPO - European Union
  • 🌍 WIPO Madrid System
  • 🇬🇧 UKIPO - United Kingdom
  • 🇯🇵 JPO - Japan
  • 🇰🇷 KIPO - South Korea
  • 🇮🇳 CGPDTM - India
  • 🇧🇷 INPI - Brazil
  • 🇨🇦 CIPO - Canada
  • 🇲🇽 IMPI - Mexico
  • 🇦🇺 IP Australia - Australia
  • 🇨🇭 SwissReg / IGE - Switzerland
  • 🇳🇿 IPONZ - New Zealand
  • 🇭🇰 Hong Kong IPD - Hong Kong
  • 🇧🇬 BGIPO - Bulgaria

That is a much broader and more useful monitoring view than trying to watch one or two offices in isolation.

What This Means for Brand Owners

With India now included, BrandCat users can:

  • detect Indian trademark filings earlier
  • review Indian records inside the same interface as other monitored offices
  • compare filings across multiple major jurisdictions more easily
  • spot expansion signals and potential conflicts in one of the world’s largest markets

No additional setup is required.

If you are already monitoring keywords in BrandCat, India is now part of your coverage.

More Than Just Another Office

India was not just another checkbox on the list.

It was the addition that finally pushed us to reorganize the trademark monitoring section of the site.

Over the last few launches, BrandCat’s trademark coverage grew enough that the old single overview page had become too crowded to be genuinely useful. So we split that section into:

  • dedicated office pages for each jurisdiction
  • a cleaner trademark monitoring overview page
  • a more structured comparison of update cadence and translation support across offices

That makes it much easier to understand what BrandCat monitors and how each office fits into the wider system.

What’s Next

We’re continuing to expand coverage and improve how trademark data is normalized, reviewed, and matched across jurisdictions.

That includes ongoing work on:

  • better cross-jurisdiction normalization
  • improved filtering and review workflows
  • clearer presentation of owner and correspondent data
  • additional offices where they add real value

As usual, a lot of these priorities come less from some grand roadmap and more from how real users actually use the product.

If there’s a jurisdiction you’d like to see next, feel free to reach out.
